Gladiators Training & Legionnaires Team Building in Rome
Offer your corporate team or private group a total immersion into Ancient Rome. BeyondRoma offers two exclusive experiences to discover the combat techniques of legionnaires and gladiators, ideal for strengthening team cohesion (Team Building) or celebrating a memorable and original corporate event.
OPTION 1: Gladiator School (Via Appia Antica) – Private & Team Building Package
Located within a renowned historical structure directly on the Via Appia Antica, this package offers an immersive and supervised curriculum, ideal for incentives and groups of all sizes.
- Guided tour of the Roman Legionnaire Historical and Didactic Museum (civil and military sections: legionnaires, praetorians, and gladiators).
- Physical training and teaching of the attack and defense techniques of gladiatorial combat.
- Provision of the traditional training tunic and use of the Rudis (the wooden training sword).
- Award of an official Certificate of Roman Citizenship to each participant.
Special Team Building & Olympiads Format (Groups of 10+ people):
For corporate groups, this activity can be transformed into true “Olympiads” (inspired by “It’s a Knockout” style games). Participants are divided into teams, each supervised and guided by their own judge dressed in authentic Roman attire. Teams compete in physical and mental challenges:
- The Bridge: Rebuild a Roman wooden bridge based only on a photographic reference.
- Knife and Pilum Throwing: Aim accurately to stick knives and throw an ancient Roman spear (Pilum) into wooden targets.
- The Statue: Transport a Roman statue through an obstacle course while keeping it perfectly balanced.
- The Anachronistic Object: A treasure hunt within the museum to spot a modern object hidden among the ancient artifacts.
- The Roman Numerals Challenge: Solve mathematical puzzles and additions using only Roman numerals.
- The Provinces: Match the ancient Roman provinces with today’s modern countries.
Organizational Note (Capacity): For comfort reasons, the museum can accommodate a maximum of 45 to 50 people simultaneously. Beyond that, the group will be split into two sub-groups alternating between the tour and the arena, supervised by separate instructors.
Transportation Information (Important): As the Appia Antica site is not easily accessible by public transport, organizing a private transfer (taxi, minivan, or coach) is mandatory to get there. We can include this service in your quote.
Duration: Approximately 2h00.
Rates (Option 1):
To guarantee an exclusive experience, our activities are always privatized for your group:
- Classic Private Package (from 1 to 11 people): Base of € 350.00 (including the 1st participant) + € 70.00 for each additional participant.
- Large Group Format (12 people and more) / Team Building / Olympiads: From € 40.00 per person.
- Schools and student groups: Preferential rates upon request (free for accompanying teachers).
OPTION 2: Grand Nature Training Camp (Exclusive for over 30 people)
This exclusive package is reserved strictly for large groups of more than 30 participants. Located in the heart of a private nature reserve, this grand camp is ideally suited for large-scale outdoor Historical Olympiads and Team Building formats.
- Learning outdoor combat techniques (use of sword, gladius, and shield).
- Javelin throwing and historical archery workshops.
- Cohesion course and introduction to ancient “Bushcraft”.
- Roman Legionnaire Certificate awarded at the end of the trials.
At the end of the training, a final snack (fruit, biscuits, water, and wine) is served on site to celebrate the performances. A private round-trip transfer service organized by us is also mandatory for this option.
Duration: Approximately 2h30 (snack included). Allow 1h to 1h30 more if you add the lunch or dinner option.
Examples of “Special Team Building” trials (Historical Olympiads) available on quote:
- Historical archery.
- Fire lighting contest with flint and cloth or dried mushrooms.
- Throwing gladiator nets and tridents at fixed targets.
- Trials of ancient dances, with dancers and musicians.
- Testing ancient magic tricks with an illusionist.
- Trying on a Roman military uniform.
- Retrieving floating fruit in water with hands tied, using only teeth.
- Archaeological drawing alongside an archaeologist.
- Agility contests (ancient games): sack race, throwing wooden balls and hoops into a basket with eyes closed, race with water glasses, balancing games on wooden pedals.
- Final treasure hunt: participants receive clues with Latin symbols encrypted using the Caesar cipher (letters shifted 3 spaces forward, letter A becomes letter C, and so on). Once the message is deciphered, participants must locate the target and bring it back.
Rates (Option 2):
- Large Groups (over 30 people): On personalized quote only, depending on the exact number of participants (maximum capacity of 70 people in winter and 150 people in summer).
Additional Catering Services (Option 2):
- Rustic Lunch or Dinner: From € 35.00 per person. (Menu based on grilled meats and typical products from local farms: antipasti, mixed grills, side dishes, biscuits, fruit, water, coffee, and a glass of wine. Customizable option).
Important Information (For both options):
- Languages: Instructors conduct the sessions in Italian or English. For supervision in French or another language, the presence of a dedicated translator or guide is billed as an extra.
- Dress Code: Comfortable sportswear and walking shoes or sneakers are strictly mandatory to participate in the training.
- Safety and Laws: This sports archaeological reconstruction activity requires good physical condition and a good team spirit. The use of historical weapons requires strict compliance with the regulations set out by the site managers. These activities are governed by Italian and international laws in the field of amateur sports and historical reconstruction.

- The exact date and preferred time desired.
- The exact number of participants (and the group profile: corporate, family, school group, private group).
- The hotel where you are staying so we can quote the private transfer (if requested).
- Your overall reference budget for this activity.
- The desired additional options (group lunch/dinner for Option 2, ancillary services).
- Your full contact details (company or manager’s name, phone number reachable on the event day, complete billing address).
General Conditions & Payment
- Exclusive Channel: To ensure rigorous follow-up of your logistical file, all requests and modifications are handled strictly by e-mail. We do not manage any bookings by phone, SMS, or WhatsApp.
- Notice Period: As the organization of these activities requires upstream coordination, any request must be made at least 5 working days in advance, subject to instructor availability.
- Compulsory Prepayment: The reservation of the date and the privatization of the arena only become effective upon receipt of full payment. No on-site payment on the day of the event is accepted.
- Payment Methods: Bank transfer (free depending on your bank’s conditions) or credit card via the secure Stripe system (+3.9% service fees at the client’s expense).
Cancellation and Refund
- Activity Policy: Cancellation and refund eligibility conditions depend directly on the policy of the partner camp or historical association. They will be detailed to you upon request.
- Agency Fees: Please note that for all services, the agency’s organization fees are definitively earned and strictly non-refundable, regardless of the cause of the cancellation.
- Incurred Services: Private transfer services (coach), room or museum privatization fees, as well as catering orders are no longer refundable once validated with our subcontractors.
